10 books about body image every woman should read

Yet surprisingly, little work has addressed either the nature of media representations of the body, or the ways in which audiences interpret and use such images in our contemporary cultural context. I have also conducted research on a wide range of other media, marketing and management issues. My recent research has centred on the use and impact of new media in particular the Internet and digital interactive television. I am particularly interested in the use of the web as an information source and in the impact of Internet-related behaviour on use of other media, especially television. I have continued to conduct research and to write about the influence of television advertising, among children and adults.

A book for girls about healthy body image and the media (by Educate & Empower Kids)

Every body is worth celebrating. This book encourages women, whatever their size, shape, and colour, to work toward feeling wonderful about themselves despite today's media-saturated culture through a day action plan. The author exposes the tyranny of the beauty myth through the ages and its oppressive function today, in the home and at work, in literature and the media, in relationships between men and women, between women and women. After following crash diets, healthy diets and nutritionist-prescribed "eating plans," the author reached rock bottom. However, she learned how to eat based on her body's instincts and exercise sustainably, without obsessing over calories burned and thighs gapped and this book documents that journey of self-discovery. As a creative force, student of the human heart and soul, and champion of living the life you want, Oprah Winfrey stands alone. Each day we face a barrage of images and messages from society and the media telling us who, what, and how we should be.
